Aguilar Learns New Trades on Latest Job for a Day Tour Stop
Rep. Pete Aguilar took his Job for a Day tour of the Inland Empire to the Inland Empire Job Corps Center, where he spent the day learning trades with students participating in work-based learning programs. Aguilar began the day by working with students enrolled in the tile setting program, installing tile at one of the campus facilities before joining a group of culinary arts students in preparing food and ingredients at the campus kitchen.

Aguilar Announces $720,000 to Establish New Tribal Health Program for Inland Empire
Rep. Pete Aguilar joined Riverside-San Bernardino County Indian Health, Inc. (RSBCIHI) to announce $720,000 in federal funding to establish a services program for victims of crime. The funding will allow RSBCIHI to hire a Victim Services Project Director, a Victim Services Support Specialist and a full-time Mental Health Clinician to establish a victims’ services program within the organization. The program will help members of tribal communities within the Inland Empire area connect with necessary mental and physical health services. RSBCIHI provides high-quality health services to tribal communities throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, including the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.

Aguilar Reintroduces Bill to Respond to Domestic Terror Attacks
Rep. Pete Aguilar reintroduced the Reporting Efficiently to Proper Officials in Response to Terrorism (REPORT) Act, a bill to require the Secretary of Homeland Security to submit a report to Congress after an act of terrorism occurs in the United States. The report would also require input from the US Attorney General, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and National Counterterrorism Center, and must include recommendations for policymakers on how to prevent similar acts of terrorism from happening in the future. Aguilar proposed the bill after his hometown of San Bernardino suffered a domestic terror attack on December 2, 2015 that killed 14 and left 22 wounded. Under current law, reports to Congress on this type of attack are not required.

Aguilar and SAC Health System Announce $300,000 to Expand Inland Empire Oral Health Services
Rep. Pete Aguilar and SAC Health System (SACHS) announced a federal grant of $300,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The grant funding will allow SACHS to implement an electronic dental health record program in order to allow primary care providers to access patients’ oral health histories and needs, improving coverage for patients throughout San Bernardino County.

Aguilar Announces $500,000 to Fight Human Trafficking in San Bernardino
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the Family Assistance Program, a non-profit based in San Bernardino County, has been awarded a grant of $500,000 from the US Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime. The grant funding will allow the Family Assistance Program to hire two case managers for Open Door, their program to identify and assist victims of human trafficking in the city of San Bernardino. The program serves 200 victims each year, with nearly half being under the age of 18.

Aguilar Announces $3 Million for San Bernardino Entrepreneurship and Employment Programs
Congressman Pete Aguilar announced a federal grant of $3 million has been awarded to the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD). The funding comes from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and will be matched by SBCCD, bringing the total investment to $6 million.
After Fighting for Funding Increases, Aguilar and Torres Announce Nearly $2 Million for Rialto and Fontana Fire Departments
Reps. Pete Aguilar and Norma Torres announced $1,590,996 in federal grant funding for the City of Rialto and $301,363.63 in federal funding for the Fontana Fire Protection District. The funding was awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) through the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response (SAFER) and Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) programs. The SAFER grant, awarded to the City of Rialto, will fund the hires of up to seven new firefighters and enable the Rialto Fire Department to expand their ability to provide life-saving assistance throughout the city. The AFG award will allow the Fontana Fire Protection District to replace and upgrade outdated radio equipment with Bluetooth-enabled breathing apparatuses in order to improve firefighter communication and safety. Both Aguilar and Torres serve on the House Appropriations Committee, which determines funding levels for federal agencies and programs, and have successfully fought for funding increases to programs such as SAFER and AFG that provide resources to first responders.

Aguilar Announces $1.5 Million for San Bernardino Jobs Program
Today, Representative Pete Aguilar announced that Citadel Community Development Corporation, a San Bernardino-based nonprofit, received a grant of $1,500,000 from the United States Department of Labor. The grant funding will allow Citadel to carry out its mission of helping formerly-incarcerated Inland Empire residents re-enter the workforce by funding on-the-job training and support for new hires.

Aguilar Announces over $2.1 Million for Inland Empire Resident Physicians
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that SAC Health Care System (SACHS) has received $2,142,792 through the Affordable Care Act Teaching Health Center (THC) grant program. In partnership with Loma Linda University Health (LLUH), this grant funding allows physicians to complete their residencies with SACHS and provide affordable medical services to families throughout the Inland Empire.
