Rep. Pete Aguilar announced the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCFPD) has received $697,072 from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant-COVID-19 Supplemental (AFG-S) Program. The funding will allow the San Bernardino County Fire department to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, face masks, eye protection, and protective coveralls. The equipment will allow firefighters and first responders to continue their work safely during the coronavirus crisis.

Rep. Pete Aguilar announced $3,802,601 in federal funding for the County of San Bernardino Preschool Services Department (PSD). The funding was made possible by the CARES Act, bipartisan legislation passed by Congress to provide relief and resources during the coronavirus crisis, and will allow PSD to offer summer programming to the families it serves.

Yesterday, the House passed H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act, a sweeping infrastructure investment package of more than $1.5 trillion for infrastructure projects to create good-paying jobs, modernize American transportation infrastructure and address the climate crisis. Two amendments introduced by Rep. Pete Aguilar were included in the bill. The first helps make the Inland Empire more competitive in applying for federal grants to reduce emissions and fight pollution. The second establishes a Gridlock Reduction Grant Program to fund programs that would reduce traffic and congestion in regions like the Inland Empire.

PSD serves nearly 6,000 families throughout the county.

The CAC is an annual competition open to middle and high school students throughout the country. Students create original software applications, or “apps,” to compete against other students in their respective Congressional Districts.
