Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that his office has submitted 10 Community Project Funding (CPF) requests to the House Appropriations Committee. This targeted funding allows Members of Congress to advocate for a maximum of 10 projects that serve the needs of their communities. Recommended by the House Select Committee on Modernization, the CPF process allows Congress to reclaim its constitutional role over federal spending by recommending direct funding for local government and non-profit entities to complete specific projects within their districts.

Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the County of San Bernardino has received two federal grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), $8,131,931 and $1,667,000, to help provide treatment and linkage services to residents living with HIV/AIDS. The funding will be allocated to various nonprofit agencies throughout the Inland Empire and will help provide medical and support services in addition to outreach and counseling.

Pete Aguilar (CA-31). The REPORT Act, the PREVENT Act, and the PROTECT Act were introduced in the wake of the deadly attack on the US Capitol on January 6th, and would ensure that lawmakers and law enforcement agencies are better prepared to detect, prevent and respond to future incidents of domestic terrorism.

The House Appropriations Committee passed the Fiscal Year 2021 Legislative Branch Appropriations Bill out of committee on July 10. The funding bill includes several key provisions offered by Rep. Pete Aguilar. The first would allow Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients to be eligible for employment in Congressional offices.

Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that San Bernardino County will receive $9,991,391 in federal funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care (CoC) program. The CoC Program is a federal initiative to end homelessness by empowering communities to provide housing resources and address root causes of homelessness. The latest round of CoC grants provided funding for 19 programs within San Bernardino County, including programs to help provide housing for homeless veterans, homeless families with children, and county residents living with HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Karthick Ramakrishnan is a professor of public policy and political science at the University of California, Riverside and director of the Inland Empire Census Complete Count Committee. He says the Inland Empire is considered “hard to count” by the U.S. Census Bureau.
