Aguilar pledges to help ailing U.S. Postal Service as controversial changes suspended

Flanked by U.S. Postal Service workers outside a processing center in Redlands on Tuesday, Aug. 18, Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Redlands, pledged to help get mail and democracy delivered on time.

Recent changes at the USPS Aguilar attributed to new Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who was appointed by President Trump in May, “threaten to silence the voices of millions, withhold prescriptions from individuals, and threaten our elections,” the congressman said.

As Aguilar and other Democrats spoke out against the changes Tuesday, DeJoy issued a statement saying he was suspending some longstanding operational initiatives that predate his arrival, which have raised concerns.
