Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Redlands, announced Sept. 9 that the Redlands Fire Department has received $34,081.82 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant COVID-19 Supplemental Program.
The funding will be used to help the department purchase personal protective equipment to help protect firefighters from contracting COVID-19, according to a news release.
Equipment to be purchased includes respiratory protection (N95 and P100 masks), protective gowns, eye coverings and more.
“During another unprecedented wildfire season, it’s more crucial than ever that our first responders have the PPE they need to safely do their jobs. I’ll continue working to ensure our local heroes have the resources they need to protect themselves from this virus while they work to keep our community safe,” Aguilar said in the news release.
