Aguilar Announces $34,000 for Redlands Fire Department Protective Equipment
Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the Redlands Fire Department received $34,081.82 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) COVID-19 Supplemental Program. The funding will be used to help the Department purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) to help protect firefighters from contracting COVID-19. Equipment to be purchased includes, respiratory protection (N95 and P100 masks), protective gowns, eye coverings and more.
“During another unprecedented wildfire season, it’s more crucial than ever that our first responders have the PPE they need to safely do their jobs. I’ll continue working to ensure our local heroes have the resources they need to protect themselves from this virus while they work to keep our community safe,” said Aguilar.
“All personnel are remaining current with training and the day-to-day challenges this pandemic has posed to our department. Our Emergency Services Coordinator remains up-to-date with all statistics and recommendations put forth by health agencies and implements the appropriate measures for our departments EMS personnel. This aid will benefit our community by keeping our personnel safe and able to perform their jobs competently and efficiently,” said Fire Chief Jim Topoleski.
Rep. Aguilar serves as Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee and sits on the Homeland Security Subcommittee, the subcommittee responsible for funding the AFG program.
