Aguilar Announces $450,000 in Need-Based Scholarship Funding for Loma Linda University Health
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that Loma Linda University Health has received $450,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students program. The program promotes diversity among health care professionals by providing financial aid to financially-disadvantaged students.
“Loma Linda University Health is one of the country’s premiere medical institutions, and this funding will allow more people from communities like ours to gain world-class medical educations. I’m proud to support these types of programs to help level the playing field for students entering the medical field and help attract and retain talented medical professionals in our region – leading to better health outcomes for Inland Empire residents,” said Rep. Aguilar.
“These funds will enable us to help a number of students complete their education and enter the healthcare field,” said Loma Linda University Health President, Richard Hart, MD, DrPH. “We appreciate Congressman Aguilar’s efforts over the years of working with the HHS, which has allowed us to help even more students in need.”
Rep. Aguilar serves as Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for allocating federal funding to agencies like HHS.
