Rep. Aguilar Celebrates Launch of New Mobile Health Care Unit
Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar attended the opening of SAC Health System (SACHS)’s new mobile health care unit made possible by federal resources.
To support this project’s completion, Rep. Aguilar secured $375,000 in federal funds in this year’s government funding package. Additionally, in April, Rep. Aguilar announced over $3 million in federal funding for SAC Health System to improve patient care and increase access to preventative care for low-income residents.
“Inland Empire residents need affordable and easy access to high quality health care services. This new mobile unit is another step forward in closing the health care access gap, and ensuring everyone in our community can get the care they need,” said Rep. Aguilar. “I’m pleased to see that funding I fought for has been implemented quickly and effectively with the completion of this new mobile unit, and I look forward to seeing the work SAC Health System will accomplish with it.”
“Our deepest gratitude goes out to Representative Pete Aguilar and his office for securing funding for our new medical mobile clinic,” said Jason Lohr, M.D., CEO for SAC Health System. “This mobile clinic will expand our ability to provide comprehensive medical care to hard-to-reach areas and populations in San Bernardino County. Through our partnerships with local organizations that directly serve the needs of these communities, we can offer medical services that patients would otherwise not receive.”
The SACHS mobile medical unit will be used for primary care (family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, and internal medicine), some specialty care, as well as behavioral health. All San Bernardino residents may receive care, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status.
Rep. Aguilar serves as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and is a member of the House Committee on Appropriations.
