Aguilar Announces $600,000 for San Bernardino Airport Improvement Projects
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a grant of $600,000 to the San Bernardino International Airport Authority (SBIAA). The funding comes from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, and will be used to rehabilitate and improve existing airport apron in order to maintain the integrity of the pavement. The improvements will increase public safety and longevity of the airport.
“San Bernardino International Airport is a key component of the Inland Empire’s infrastructure, and will play a leading role in the city’s economic recovery. We need to continue investing in these types of improvement projects in order to keep the airport safe and operational. I’m proud to announce this funding, which will help support good jobs in our community and modernize our system of airports,” said Rep. Aguilar.
“We appreciate Congressman Aguilar’s steady support for continued funding for the Federal Aviation Administration and the AIP program – this continues to strengthen our region’s airports while enhancing safety for years to come,” said Mike Burrows, Executive Director of SBIAA.
A member of the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Rep. Aguilar is a consistent advocate for investments in public infrastructure. In addition to serving as Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, Aguilar serves as a Chief Deputy Whip in the House Democratic Caucus.
