Aguilar Announces $337,000 for Inland Empire Student Success Programs

Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that Youth Action Project, a San Bernardino nonprofit, has received $337,127 in federal funding from AmeriCorps. The funding will be used to continue the YAP Young Scholars program to provide Inland Empire high school students with personalized academic coaching.

“Local nonprofits like YAP are key partners in the effort to make sure our young people have access to high-quality education and career readiness programs. I’m proud to announce this funding, which will help students in the Inland Empire find academic success that will better prepare them for their next steps after high school,” said Aguilar.

“We are excited to continue our 12-year partnership with AmeriCorps and CaliforniaVolunteers to bring much needed funding to the City of San Bernardino and its surrounding areas. Each year, YAP provides over 750 youth and young adults with academic support, workforce preparation, and positive youth development opportunities. AmeriCorps funding has been an essential part of allowing us to work towards our vision of empowering communities one youth at a time.”

Aguilar serves on the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for allocating funding to federal agencies like AmeriCorps.
