Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino, vows to follow facts ‘wherever they lead’ in Capitol insurrection probe
The newly formed committee to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol will include an Inland Empire voice — Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-San Bernardino.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the 13 members of the committee Thursday, July 1, and said they would be tasked with a nonpartisan study of the attack.
Besides Aguilar, California members include Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Burbank; and Zoe Lofgren, D-San Jose.
Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyoming, is the committee’s sole GOP member.
In a news release, Schiff said the committee’s duty “(is) to investigate the events leading up to and during the violent insurrection, and to determine how to best protect our fragile democracy moving forward.”
“We will have a full accounting of that deadly day, and we will endeavor to do so with bipartisan sobriety,” Schiff said.
