Rep. Aguilar Announces Over $3 Million for Infrastructure Improvements to 3rd Street in San Bernardino
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that he secured $3,000,000 in federal funding for the Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) to make critical improvements to 3rd Street, San Bernardino (SBD) International Airport’s main access road. As the airport expands their commercial flights, this funding will ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place to support this growth.
“Our community is one of the fastest growing in the country,” said Rep. Pete Aguilar. “I worked to secure this funding because it will help make critical improvements to 3rd Street and enhance safety and access to the San Bernardino International Airport. As flights to Las Vegas just opened yesterday, the airport needs this support for the thousands of customers and businesses they serve daily.”
“The IVDA and its partners have been working to improve this vital corridor since the closure of Norton Air Force Base, and thanks to Congressman Aguilar it can finally happen,” said Michael Burrows, Inland Valley Development Agency, CEO.
“The improvements on 3rd Street will help diversify development at the airport, accelerate job creation, and improve safety and mobility along a key corridor in San Bernardino,” said San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran. “We are grateful for Congressman Aguilar’s work to secure the funding.”
“Seeing that the safety of our residents, customers, and businesses will be enhanced with this project is what makes it so great,” said Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “The quality of life for our community will be vastly improved and our Third Street and Del Rosa Avenue communities will see change coming their way with new streets, sidewalks and more. We cannot wait to see this project come to life and are so happy this funding is happening.”
“We appreciate the great support and leadership of Congressman Aguilar. This $3,000,000 investment will go a long way in supporting the continued growth of our airport and the thousands of customers, businesses, and travelers that use it every day,” commented Mayor Frank Navarro of the City of Colton and President of the San Bernardino International Airport Commission.
“Strategic investments in our regional infrastructure and key connections like the 3rd Street Corridor are critical to continuing our economic development and revitalization programs, and Congressman Aguilar has made this project a reality,” said Mayor Phill Dupper of the City of Loma Linda and Chair of the Inland Valley Development Agency.
