Rep. Aguilar Announces Over $3 Million for Affordable Health Care in the Inland Empire
SAN BERNARDINO, CA — Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced $3,046,195 in federal funding for SAC Health System to expand their services and provide quality, affordable health care to a greater number of San Bernardino County residents. This funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will provide the resources necessary to improve and support patient care and increase access to preventative care.
“Our community continues to be underserved when it comes to access to affordable health care, and this funding will help address that disparity,” said Rep. Aguilar. “The work of our Federally Qualified Health Centers is critical to reaching low-income communities and improving health care outcomes for Inland Empire residents. I am going to continue prioritizing greater access to quality, affordable health care and expanding critical health care services for more San Bernadino County residents.”
“For the ninth year, we are proud of our continuing status as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC),” said Jason Lohr, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of SAC Health. “As a FQHC, SAC Health is an essential resource for providing high-quality primary care to underserved communities of CA-33. Through funding from HRSA BPHC, SAC Health is able to provide access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare services to people who might not have health insurance or have limited access to healthcare facilities. SAC Health is able to provide care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Not only does this funding support patient care, but it also helps to create jobs, boost the local economy, and reduce healthcare costs by providing preventive care and reducing hospitalizations and emergency room visits. We are thankful for Representative Aguilar’s nearly decade of support as member of Congress.”
Rep. Aguilar serves as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and is a member of the House Committee on Appropriations.
