“Our airports are key components of our region’s economy, providing good-paying jobs to thousands of Inland Empire residents. I was proud to support the CARES Act so that key industries in our region would have the resources they need to overcome the challenges posed by the coronavirus crisis. I’ll continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure Inland Empire businesses and families have access to federal support to help them overcome these challenges,” said Rep. Aguilar, whose district includes San Bernardino International Airport, Redlands Municipal Airport, and Cable Airport in Upland.
“The CARES Act continues to deliver crucial support for residents across the Inland Empire – the funding we announced today will ensure our community enjoys the same local, reliable, and convenient transportation opportunities in the future that we’ve worked so hard to develop over time. Residents across our region are making tremendous sacrifices to overcome this virus, and I will continue to fight in Congress to provide the vital support workers and businesses need, and the long-term investments like this one to protect our way of life,” Said Rep. Torres, whose district includes Ontario International Airport.
“Secretary Chao’s quick allocation of funds provided in the CARES Act will provide our region with necessary support in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will help our local airports, including Corona Municipal and French Valley, weather the current crisis. These airports remain a lifeline for regional commerce and I appreciate the Secretary’s dedication to ensuring our nation’s infrastructure is resilient to this pandemic. I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that our region has the resources it needs to emerge from these trying times as strong as ever,” said Rep. Ken Calvert, whose district includes French Valley Airport and Corona Municipal Airport.
Reps. Aguilar, Torres and Calvert all serve on the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for allocating federal funding.
