Today, Rep. Aguilar returned to Washington to support the passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $2 trillion stimulus bill to provide immediate relief to working Americans, small businesses and families affected by the coronavirus crisis. The bill establishes direct payments of up to $1,200 for most Americans, provides $350 billion in relief to small business owners, expands unemployment insurance benefits for affected workers, supplies approximately $200 billion to hospitals and health care providers, and grants $150 billion to state and local governments for emergency response.

“Today, I voted to ensure the Inland Empire will be able to stay afloat during this crisis. By providing immediate cash payments to working people, new funding to help small businesses, and billions of dollars in new funding for state and local governments, this bipartisan bill will help ensure that our region can rise to the challenges posed by coronavirus and come out the other side stronger. While Congress still has work to do in the coming weeks, I’m proud to have supported this bipartisan effort to provide relief to the American people,” said Aguilar.
