Aguilar Announces $145,000 for San Bernardino Youth Program

Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced $145,351 in federal grant funding for Operation New Hope, a San Bernardino nonprofit that specializes in connecting underserved youth with resources to help them find long-term success. The funding comes from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and will help Operation New Hope connect at-risk young people with education and resources to successfully enter the workforce.

“Economic opportunity is the key to making sure our young people can live safe and productive lives as members of our community. I’ll continue working to secure federal funding for these types of initiatives to make sure young people in San Bernardino and across the Inland Empire have the resources they need to succeed,” said Aguilar.

“Operation New Hope is grateful to have been selected to begin a valuable community partnership with the Department of Justice, to enhance our mission to create opportunities for disconnected youth to succeed in life. The funding will enhance our Youth Opportunities Pathway Partnership (YOPP). The goals of the YOPP Program are to help San Bernardino high-risk populations succeed in becoming self-sufficient and enter the workforce successfully,” said Russell Degnan, CEO of Operation New Hope.

Rep. Aguilar serves on the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for setting funding levels for federal agencies like DOJ.
