Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that Reach Out, an Upland-based nonprofit organization, received $200,000 in federal funding from the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) for their Morongo Basin Opioid Project. The project supports community engagement, treatment and recovery assistance to help combat the opioid crisis in eastern San Bernardino County.

“Even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, we have to continue our efforts to provide care and treatment to those struggling with addiction. No community is immune to the opioid crisis, that’s why I’ll continue working to support organizations like Reach Out and comprehensive health care funding for San Bernardino County,” said Aguilar.

“Prevention and response services are Reach Out’s primary focus in the Morongo Basin. With this funding, we will be able to work hand-in-hand with the community to help those impacted by opioids,” said Teresa Fernandez, Director of Community Health & Policy for Reach Out.

Rep. Aguilar serves as Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for providing funding for federal agencies like HRSA.
