Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that he’s been appointed by Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer to serve as an Assistant Whip as part of the House Democratic Caucus leadership team for the 115^th Congress.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to shape and advocate for policies that will help my community in San Bernardino County and those like it around the nation,” said Rep. Aguilar. He continued, “As we begin the 115^th Congress, we must ensure crucial issues like job creation, affordable and accessible health care, and the preservation of Medicare and Social Security are never compromised. I’m grateful to Whip Hoyer for this responsibility and I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to advance priorities that will help raise the middle class.”

Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer said, “Rep. Pete Aguilar has already proven himself to be an excellent Representative for the people of California’s Thirty-First District in Congress, and I’m pleased to announce that he will serve as an Assistant Whip for the 115^th Congress. As a former city councilman and mayor, Rep. Aguilar understands the effects federal policies have on local communities, and he’s been working hard since coming to Congress to ensure that Washington remains focused on jobs and opportunity for everyone in our country.  I look forward to working closely with him in the 115^th Congress to advance Democrats’ goals of raising wages, making our communities safer, fixing our broken immigration system, and attracting high-paying manufacturing jobs back to the United States.”  

Rep. Aguilar was sworn in for his second term in the United States House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon. He represents California’s 31^st Congressional District and currently serves on the House Armed Services and Agriculture Committees. He will also serve as the Whip of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus for the 115^th Congress.
